Who we are
Huntafrica Namibia (Pty) Ltd (registration number 20260927), trading as Huntafrica Namibia Safaris, is responsible for your personal data (the “controller”).
Farm: Farm Good Hope, Gobabis, Namibia
Post: P.O.Box 1100, Gobabis, Namibia
Privacy contact: contact@huntafrica.com.na
This notice covers this website. It follows the EU/UK GDPR, which we apply to all visitors, because most of our guests come from the EU and the US. We are based in Namibia.
What we collect, and why
Enquiry form. Your name, email address, phone number (optional), country, when you want to travel, your message, any hunt you built on the site (days, animals, extras and the costed quote), whether you want a Namibia tour added, whether you want our newsletter, and that you agreed to the form’s consent box. We use it to reply, plan your hunt and send you a confirmation email. Lawful basis: your consent (the tick box) and taking steps you ask for before a booking.
Newsletter. Your email address, and your first name if you give it. We use it to send occasional news and prices. Lawful basis: your consent. You can withdraw it at any time with the unsubscribe link in every email.
AI hunt planner. The text you type is sent to Anthropic, which runs the AI model, so it can reply. We do not store the conversation. Please don’t type sensitive personal details. The planner only suggests a hunt. It makes no decision about you. When you start a chat, Cloudflare’s spam check (Turnstile) confirms you are a person, usually without you noticing. We also keep a simple count of planner messages per day, with nothing about who sent them, so we can pause the planner if it is misused. Lawful basis: you ask for it by using it, and our legitimate interest in preventing abuse.
Visit statistics. We use Plausible Analytics to count visits: which pages and sections are viewed, the website that referred you, your country, and your browser and device type. We also count a few actions, such as an enquiry being sent, the planner or builder being used, a page not being found, or a click on a link to another website. These counts don’t include anything you type. Plausible uses no cookies and stores nothing on your device. It doesn’t keep your IP address. To tell one visit from another it uses a code that changes every 24 hours, so it can’t recognise you on another day or on other websites. We only ever see totals, never individual visitors. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in knowing how the site is used so we can improve it.
Visitor IP address and technical data. Your IP address is used to limit how fast the forms and planner can be used, and is passed to Cloudflare’s spam check (Turnstile) on the forms and the planner. Our hosting also keeps standard server logs (IP address, page requested, browser type, time). We also check how long a form took to fill in, to spot bots. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and free of spam.
We don’t sell your data, don’t run advertising, don’t track you across other websites, and don’t make automated decisions that affect you legally.
Who handles your data, and where
- Cloudflare (hosting, server logs, Turnstile spam check). US company with a global network. Your request is handled in a data centre near you, and logs may be processed in the US and elsewhere.
- Resend (sends the enquiry notice to us, the confirmation email to you, and the newsletter; holds the newsletter list). US company; processes data in the United States.
- Anthropic (the AI hunt planner). US company; processes chat text in the United States. Under its business terms, it does not train its models on this text and keeps it only for a limited time.
- Plausible Analytics (visit statistics). Plausible Insights OÜ, an EU company based in Estonia. It stores data on servers in the EU and does not keep personal data.
- Facebook. We only link to our page. Nothing is sent to Facebook unless you click, and then Facebook’s own privacy policy applies.
These providers act on our instructions. Your data also reaches us in Namibia, which the EU has not formally recognised as having equivalent data protection. For transfers out of the EU/UK we rely on safeguards such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework (where the provider is certified) and Standard Contractual Clauses. Email us if you would like details.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries: 24 months after our last contact, if no booking follows. If you book, we keep the records for as long as the law requires for accounts and tax (up to 7 years).
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
- AI planner chats: not stored by us. Anthropic keeps them for a limited time under its terms.
- Visit statistics: only totals that can’t identify you, kept by Plausible for as long as we use it.
- IP address and logs: we don’t keep your IP address ourselves. It sits in memory for about a minute for rate limiting. Cloudflare keeps logs for a short period under its own policy.
Cookies
We set no cookies and use no advertising scripts, so there is no cookie banner. Our visit statistics (Plausible, above) use no cookies and store nothing on your device. When you reach the forms or start the AI planner, your browser loads Cloudflare’s Turnstile, a security check that confirms you are a person. Cloudflare designs it not to track you across sites, but it may use temporary browser storage to run the check. We don’t use it for tracking.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or stop how we use it, or give you a copy you can reuse. You can withdraw consent at any time. Email contact@huntafrica.com.na. We reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the data-protection authority in your country. For the EU, you can find yours on the EDPB members list. In the UK it is the Information Commissioner’s Office. If you live in a US state with a privacy law, you have similar rights and can use the same email address.
Changes
If we change this notice in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top.
