Plains-game safaris · Since 1987

For The Hunting Experience of a Lifetime

Family-run, walked-up plains-game safaris on privately owned Kalahari land, 260 km east of Windhoek. One hunting party at a time.

Blue wildebeest strung out across an open Kalahari plain.

The land

Privately owned Kalahari land, hunted on foot.

A block of adjoining privately owned farms on the edge of the Kalahari, 260 km east of Windhoek, with access to over 100,000 hectares (247,000 acres) in total.

The core has no internal game fencing — where internal fences exist at all they are low cattle fences, which game crosses freely over and under. Boundaries are game-fenced, as they are on every farm in this part of Namibia; we would rather tell you that than let you find out.

          How we hunt

Fair chase, on foot, at the animal's pace.

          • Walked-up, glass-and-stalkNo driven hunts, no put-and-take, no baiting. Expect ten to fifteen kilometres a day on Kalahari sand.
          • Seven to ten days suits a first tripThree or four species is plenty. Kudu alone often takes three or four days.
          • Honest about trophiesWe hunt for mature animals. Nobody can honestly promise a size on fair-chase ground, so we don't.
          • Bringing your rifleYou collect your temporary import permit at Hosea Kutako on arrival. We help with the documentation beforehand as required and meet you at the airport — or hire one of ours.
          • Sighting in comes firstEvery hunt starts at the range, checking your rifle after the flight. It is a fixed step before anyone goes out.

          Before or after the hunt

Add a Namibia tour to your trip.

Namibia is worth seeing beyond the hunting area. We can organise a photographic tour before or after your hunt — ideal for partners, families and friends who want to explore the country, or for hunters who want a few more days on the road.

          • Sossusvlei

Towering red dunes and white clay pans in the Namib-Naukluft park. Best at sunrise.

          • Namib Desert & coast

One of the oldest deserts on earth, running down to the Atlantic at Swakopmund.

          • Etosha

Namibia's great game park: elephant, lion, rhino and plains game at the waterholes.

          • Damaraland

Rugged mountain country, desert-adapted elephant and the rock engravings of Twyfelfontein.

          • Caprivi

Rivers, wetlands and birdlife in the green north-east, on the Okavango and Zambezi.

…and much more. Namibia has a lot to offer beyond these highlights, and we're happy to plan around other destinations across the country.

          Frequently asked

          Straight answers.

When is the best time to hunt?

We hunt February to November. May to August is prime: dry, cool, and the bush is open enough for clean glassing.

How many days should I book?

Seven to ten days suits most first trips. Six is the practical minimum. Long-haul hunters usually add travel days either side.

Can I bring a non-hunting partner or family?

Yes. Observers stay at the Huntafrica lodge at the observer day rate, with a lower rate for children under 12 — both are in the price list above. They can join the hunt as space allows or rest at the lodge.

          Is the land fenced?

Partly, and we would rather say so plainly. The core is a block of adjoining farms with no internal game fencing — where internal fences exist at all they are low cattle fences, which game crosses freely. Boundaries are game-fenced, as they are on every farm in this part of Namibia.

Should I bring my own rifle?

Either works. If you bring your own, you obtain the temporary firearm import permit yourself at Hosea Kutako International Airport on arrival. We help with the documentation and any questions beforehand as required, meet you at the airport and can assist there if needed. Or hire a rifle from us — rates are in the price list above.

          What happens to my trophies?

We do the field preparation on the farm and hand your trophies to the taxidermist of your choice. Taxidermy, dip & pack and shipping are arranged and billed directly between you and that provider.

How do I book and pay?

A 50% deposit confirms your dates. The balance is paid by international wire transfer or in cash at camp. We do not currently take cards. Nothing is reserved until we confirm in writing.

          Do you offer big game?

Big-game hunts are arranged by enquiry only. Send us a note and we'll come back to you.

          Get in touch

          Tell us about your hunt.
